Oil Pastels
(Doodling)

There are many brands of oil pastels. The ones I used for this activity are not the ones I am linking to. I am linking to Crayola oil pastels because the love the fact that they have a pointy tip.

There are many oil pastels sets that come flat and I find them harder to use.

The ones I used here were a mixture of some Crayola neon colors and some other standard, flat ones.

I always watch how the students in my elementary school classes love oil pastels and I thought I would to.

However, I found them harder to use. You have to color very hard to get some good coverage and it actually was hurting my hand to do so.

The colors are really bright and vivid though.

One thing you can do with oil pastels is use a bit of oil to blend them. If you use it on top of a plain piece of copy paper it makes the paper translucent.
